Fired Former acting FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe admitted Publicly on 60 minutes Thursday, Feb 14th, that he and others at the Bureau attempted a Coup d’Etat against President Trump and strategized on invoking the 25th amendment to remove President Trump.
After the firing of James Comey, McCabe admitted that he and national security officials strategized citing unproven Russian collusion narratives and tried to gather votes from within the Trump cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove the president from office.
“There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment.”
Top bureaucrats were speculating on where various cabinet members might stand on the question of the president’s removal.
The highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president, as massive illegal surveillance and a spy operation had been going on long before any FISA documents were ever issued and long before Trump was elected. This illegal activity would be very hard to explain. It would also lead directly back to President Barack Obama’s administration, and more particularly, John Brennan and the CIA.
In a panic, more than once, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered to wear a wire into the White House to attempt to record incriminating conversations with the president. McCabe said this was an idea he took seriously and discussed with FBI lawyers.
McCabe’s own long list of alleged criminal activities and his extreme credibility problem have been almost entirely overlooked in the legacy media stories promoting his “60 Minutes” interview. The same applies to the reality that McCabe’s Russia probe never amounted to anything, and he knew all along it was a bogus frame.
Andrew McCabe was far from the only FBI official to disgrace himself. Other now-fired FBI officials, such as James Comey and Peter Strzok, helped transform the FBI into a political weapon to sabotage the president through the baseless Trump-Russia investigation.
McCabe and his cohorts were on a hell-bent quest to overturn the results of the election. Call it what it was: a soft coup attempt. Luckily for our republic, the coup attempt failed.
