One of pushiest malfunctioning worst pieces of software on the Internet. It has been discontinued by Yahoo and if you have it on your computer, it would not be a good idea to try to upgrade it. This is what happened to me when I did:
It rendered my computer non functional so I could not open my control panel, or get to my hard drive.( It did, however, begin playing one of my songs that I did not request it to play and it failed to open the sound file I had originally tried to open.)
It would not let me delete it, or uninstall it. I had to do a system restore on my computer to the previous day before I had agreed to upgrade it. This did restore function to my computer and I could now get to my hard drive and to the control panel but it still would not let me uninstall or delete the folder it was contained in. I could not do a system restore to before the program was installed because my Dell computer came with the program already installed. Thank you very much, Dell.
Here are some suggestions that I found elsewhere on the Internet that did not work for me when the musicmatch jukebox program would not let me uninstall or delete certain .dll files.
1. rename the file then delete it. …Did not work.
2. Use Analog X super shredder.. Did not work
3. Move the file…. Did not work.
4. Uninstall from control panel “add and remove programs” …Did not work.
THANK GOD FOR SAFE MODE.
I needed to uninstall this pushy obnoxious program because it disabled my entire computer after I agreed to a nagging in my face upgrade. First, in order to even get to my hard drive or control panel, I had to do a system restore. Then I tried every which way to delete and/or uninstall this thing and still nothing worked.
Finally, I had to reboot my computer into safe mode and then went to the folder C:/program files/ and I just deleted the entire folder called musicmatch while in safe mode.
Then I made sure I deleted it from the recycle bin.
Then I rebooted my computer and did a registry repair to clean out left over files.
What evil scum sucking programmers wrote this program? They should all go to cyber prison and rot. This program sucks. Any program that removes your ability to uninstall it is not worthy to be on my computer. Nuff said.
Yahoo has since replace this program with something else, but I don’t think I’m interested.
How to start the computer up in safe mode
1.You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2. (DUH! )
2.Click Start and then click Shut Down.
3.In the drop-down list of the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
4.As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8.
On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press F8 when the boot menu appears.
5.Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER.
6.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
If Windows launches before you can choose a safe mode, restart your computer and try again.
• In safe mode, you have access to only basic files and drivers (mouse, monitor, keyboard, mass storage, base video, default system services, and no network connections). You can choose the Safe Mode with Networking option, which loads all of the above files and drivers and the essential services and drivers to start networking, or you can choose the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option, which is exactly the same as safe mode except that a command prompt is started instead of the graphical user interface. You can also choose Last Known Good Configuration, which starts your computer using the registry information that was saved at the last shutdown.
Safe mode helps you diagnose problems. If a symptom does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and minimum device drivers as possible causes. If a newly added device or a changed driver is causing problems, you can use safe mode to remove the device or reverse the change.
There are circumstances where safe mode will not be able to help you, such as when Windows system files that are required to start the system are corrupted or damaged. In this case, the Recovery Console may help you.
NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.
